Social media is a powerful tool that can be used to drive traffic to your website. With over 3 billion people using social media around the world, there is a vast audience waiting to be reached. However, simply posting content on social media is not enough. You need to have a strategy in place to make the most of these platforms and turn your followers into website visitors.
- Use clear and compelling call-to-actions (CTA). A CTA is a button or link that encourages the user to take a specific action, such as visiting your website. There are a few different types of CTAs that you can use on social media.
- The first type of CTA is a direct call-to-action. This is a straightforward message that tells the user exactly what you want them to do. For example, “Visit our website to learn more” or “Sign up for our newsletter.”
- The second type of CTA is a soft call-to-action. This is a more subtle message that encourages the user to take a certain action without being too pushy. For example, “Check out our latest blog post” or “Follow us for more updates.”
- The third type of CTA is a lead magnet. This is an incentive offered to entice the user to take a specific action. For example, “Download our free e-book” or “Sign up for a free trial.”
- Use social media to build relationships. Social media is not just about broadcasting your message, it’s also about building relationships. By engaging with your followers and responding to their comments and messages, you can create a sense of community and trust. This will make them more likely to visit your website and take action.
- Share valuable content. Social media is a great place to share valuable content that will help educate and inform your followers. By providing useful information, you can establish yourself as an authority in your field and gain the trust of your followers. This will make them more likely to visit your website and take action.
- Use social media advertising. Social media advertising can be a powerful way to drive traffic to your website. By targeting your ads to specific audiences, you can reach people who are more likely to be interested in your products or services. This can help you increase website traffic and conversions.
- Be consistent with your posting schedule. Consistency is key when it comes to social media. By posting regularly, you can keep your followers engaged and increase the chances of them visiting your website. However, It’s important not to post too often, as this can overwhelm your followers and cause them to unfollow you.
A good strategy is to post 3-4 times a day on Facebook, 2-3 times a day on Twitter, 1-2 times a day on Instagram and LinkedIn. Of course, this will vary depending on your niche, target audience, and other factors. Before you comment that this is a lot, let me tell you that I agree and I realize that. However, these are some best-case examples and if you cannot post this frequently, don’t get upset! Just post when you can!
Social media can be a powerful tool for driving traffic to your website. You can increase website traffic and conversions by using clear and compelling CTAs, building relationships with your followers, sharing valuable content, using social media advertising, and being consistent with your posting schedule. Remember always to test different strategies and adjust as necessary. Like the old saying goes, “Lather. Rinse. Repeat.” Keep testing, reviewing your results, and then make modifications and try again!

Thank you for this. It’s very detailed and helpful. Lately, I’ve been seeing much of the negative side of social media. But there is a positive side, that social media is a tool that can make your business better and can inform people about your product.

Indeed, we cannot neglect the benefits of using Social media for traffic despite having some negative sides. Stay awesome, Alice!

Paul, thanks for another content-rich piece. I am strong on your #3, valuable content. But I find I get the most response when I post something personal and/or idiosyncratic every 2 or 3 days. People need emotions and entertainment.
Paul says
Indeed, Kebba! Sharing personal posts gives you a much more natural vibe that people can relate to. Continue to be awesome, Kebba!

I am guessing internet marketing is nothing like marketing hair shampoo.
For a good shampoo, the repeat is not necessary for a clean scalp, but it does double the amount of shampoo sold.
I once listened to someone discuss the benefits of posting on a regular schedule such as every Monday morning verses a random schedule based on prime numbers. eg. 3, 5, 7 days.
The best tip is to know your customer niche.
Blog on!

Thank you so much for your comment, Doug. Knowing your customer is really important. Cheers to more blogs!

I’m still learning. I really appreciate all your blogs. I find that the people who follow me on Twitter may be different from the type of people who follow my blog. Twitter followers tend to like and retweet the positive statements I make but not the check out my latest blog. I’m struggling to use FB effectively but I think that is where my blog will be best accepted.

It is true, Cheryl. There are indeed different types of followers in different social media. Also, remember that there are lots of factors to make them check out your blog. Such as the caption, the title, the thumbnails, and many more. Keep doing your best and stay awesome, Cheryl! More blogs to come.
