Sticky Post – Making a Post Stick

If you blog frequently (or have been blogging for a long time now), if you are participating in the Ultimate Blog Challenge sponsored by (Michele Scism and Michelle Shaeffer), and if you just have a great post that you want everyone to see, you can have it always show up at the top of all your posts!

Think about it…  Have you ever written an article or post that you felt was the best you have written and you want everyone to read it? Maybe it is something that is so pertinent  that all your readers should read it?

You can tag this special post as a Sticky Post! This is a feature that WordPress had built in, but many people are not aware of it!

To do this, click the “Edit” link from your post’s Publish widget, and click the checkbox to make it ‘stick’!

Doing so will make the post show up at the top of your posts (as if it was the most recent). This is great if you are running a content, have timely information you want everyone to see, or you want  information about your site to be always displayed!

One last note – some themes (like Twenty-Ten) may change the color/style of a sticky post. You can change this if you know a little bit of coding. Search the .css file for .sticky and you can change the background color (or any other attribute you want!)

Great! What is the nature of the post you are making sticky? it is an ‘About Me’ type of post? Something that describes your business, Services, or Products you offer?

Hi Paul. I have a blog on Fibromyalgia and I did a post on posts that were worth a second look. Now people can see prior posts that can be helpful to them.
