WordPress 4.2 is out!

The latest version of WordPress has been released! Version 4.2 has been named “Powell” – you may know of the great jazz pianist Bud Powell.

Communicate and Share

The central theme of this release is to help you communicate and share, globally.

Clip it, edit it, publish it. Get familiar with the new and improved Press This. From the Tools menu, add Press This to your browser bookmark bar or your mobile device home screen. Once installed you can share your content with lightning speed. Sharing your favorite videos, images, and content has never been this fast or this easy.WordPress Team

More Language Support

To make communication with other languages, WordPress 4.2 now supports may new characters – there is no need to install additional character sets or plugins to provide support for them! In addition to the language characters, there is now support for symbols and hieroglyphs. Musicians and ma thematic geeks (stated affectionately!) will enjoy the special symbols for them!

In addition, it looks like they took some cues from the mobile device world as emoji characters are now available in WordPress 4.2!  As stated on their website, you can now. “Get creative and decorate your content with , , , , and all the many other emoji.”

Easier Plugin Updates

You are probably thinking, “How much easier can plugin updates get?” Well they have! There is no longer an additional pop-up window when you click to update! It has a cleaner feel to it all!

Remember, though… take a backup of your site before you upgrade just in case something does not work out the way you want it to!

Great read! I’m curious as to what your preferred method of backing up is.
