According to Yoast.com, WordPress currently powers 72.4 million different websites, making it the world鈥檚 most widely used CMS in existence.
WordPress dominates the top 100 blogs in the world, and 22 of every 100 new domains created in the US are running on WordPress.
Further, 16% of all the existing websites run on WordPress.
Being an open source and entirely free platform, the web based CMS is ubiquitous and admired for its flexibility, extensibility and stability features. Specifically designed for small business websites, the company enables business owners to build robust WordPress websites that are professional, feature-rich and easy-to-use.
Having gained popularity as a blogging tool since its inception, WordPress has quickly grown to enjoy the largest market share of 54% in the CMS market.

Hey Paul
I am back *grinning*
WordPress is fine so long as I use it just for blogging and Publishing. I am completely clueless about using Plugins and the other differentiating features! LOL
We should talk sometime, once I start working on my new website 馃榾

Leslie Hassler says
I love wordpress and have been using it since 2008. I was shocked to see only 54% of the websites are built on it.
It has been the easiest for me to maintain {especially after another talented person built it ;)}
Why do you think people shy away from WP?
Paul says
I think people stay away from it simply because of the lack of education – they do not realize how easy it can be – once you konw what you are doing. Fortunately, this only takes a little training. It isn’t like the initial days of building a website!
Why do you think folks stay away, Leslie?
Leonardo Bustos says
Great article and website Paul – I’ll hit you up when I’m done with a few projects – I can’t multi-task like most women 馃槈
Paul says
Never try to compete with a woman on a mission 馃檪 When you are ready, I will be here, Leonardo!
Sarah Arrow says
Love WordPress. When I first started blogging I tried Blogger and that lasted about 5 minutes, and then I followed that with a free WordPress site… and then the inevitable self-hosted. And you can see why it’s popular when you start digging under the hood 馃檪
Paul says
Absolutely! There are so many benefits to being self-hosted! I think the term, “self-hosted” sounds scarier than it is! It almost seems as if you have to run the servers yourself!
