Do you know who Grant Green is?
Grant Green is the inspiration for the new WordPress version release. WordPress is officially now at version 3.4. This release was dubbed “Green” “in honor of guitarist Grant Green whose soulful simplicity has kept many of us company during this release” report the fine folks at WordPress.
If (rather, when) you upgrade to the new edition, you will enjoy such features as the ability to test themes before applying them to the entire blog site and the ability to add HTML code to their caption photos. Both are very cool features!
The founder of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg says, “The theme customizer … allows you to play around with various looks and settings for your current theme or one you’re thinking about switching to without publishing those changes to the whole world. For themes that support it, you can change colors, backgrounds, and of course custom image headers.”
Also noteworthy is the ability to add HTML code to image captions, allowing users to stylistically format parts of the captions and add links. Other new features include the ability of the software to recognize links to individual Twitter messages. Links to individual messages are automatically converted into fully formatted Twitter messages on the page. Various bug features, performance improvements and developer optimizations have been added as well.
So, should you upgrade? Absolutely! However, make sure that you take a back up before you do any work. This goes for installing plugins as well! You never know what is not going to be compatible with the new version. While most developers do their best to test their themes, plugins, and scripts, on occasion something gets missed. Having a backup is worth it’s weight in gold!

Thanks for this info Paul. I’m wondering what you mean by backup exactly. I mean I know what backup means, but are talking about backing up on one of those memory sticks, or on something like Carbonite, or does WP have a back up?
I think you covered backup in one of your lessons, however, I lost some things when my laptop crashed including those saved email lessons. So I do know the need for backup.
Thank you.
