I recently gave a friend a special page that was given to be by an event coordination. I was a speaker at an event and was provided with a a handful of free tickets that I could give to my best customers. I vistied the page on my desktop computer and it was great! I had my own branded page for the event. People visiting this special page were able to see that it was for me because at the top of the page it read, “Friends of Paul Taubman.
I happened to get a text from a client the next day – I texted back the answer to his question and then thought I would see if he was interested in attend this event that I was speaking at. I sent him my special page. When I clicked on the link after I sent it to make sure I typed it in correct, I was mortified to see that that page it landed on was… A PORN SITE! Actually, it was an app that dealt with pron! I was mortified. I quickly texted back, NO!!! Don’t click…
There is a hacker attack that is going around that affect sites visited on MOBILE devices only. As the security website, sucuri.net, reports:
These types of injections are called conditional redirections because certain conditions need to be met for them to redirect visitors. They are not always present and the malware authors try very hard to hide them from the website owner. The malware code looks for logged in cookies to try to identify whether or not someone is managing the site and then attempts to never redirect someone who is logged in. Finally, if a visitor gets redirected once, the malware will not redirect them again. The goal for the malware author is for visitors to not report something going wrong with a website. In this example, if you were to visit an infected site, you’d be redirected, but from your point of view, maybe it was just something weird so you retype the url and now you aren’t redirected. Since everything is working normally now, you decide not to report it and the malware lives on.

I dealt with this a couple of months ago on a new client’s site. It was the first time I had seen this particular type of malware and it through me off. I eventually got it cleaned up and she was good to go.
Thanks for sharing the article.
