In yesterday’s post I discussed a few things that you can consider in order to get your site up ‘tuned up’ at the new year. I received a few emails thanking me and asking how to manage their workload. For example, Wendy asked,
Thanks for the tips – I do not think I ever looked at my CR [copyright] date – LOL! It was set at 2010! I am a casual blogger and only write about once a week, sometimes only 2 a month. So your tips are great.
I find that I have too much stuff to do, too little time to do it, and get overwhelmed very easily. I get easily distracted (I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old – both boys!) and I am trying to help my husband with his business. This is not really WordPress related (or is it?) but how do you manage to do all the things that you do? There is always something to learn and I go into information overload. I then shut down. This is not very good.
Wow! Great question! And a timely one as well. Normally, I save questions like this for Friday’s Question post. Tonight, at 8 pm EST, David Perdew of NAMS and Gary Huff will be providing a free training dealing with Information Overload.
Let’s face it – it’s a common problem – there is so much informationa and so much to do, that you simply do nothing. Get nowhere. And the longer it lasts, the worse it can become. Gary is a professional at doing this – I will be on the call, and I encourage you to sign up as well. After all, it is free!
For scheduling purposes, I use a site called Toodledo.com – there is a great little app for my iPhone that I use to help manage all the things that I need and want to get done. I access it throughout the day. If there is interest, I can do a write up on that free service. I have tried using paper planners, electronic reminders, scraps of paper, post-it notes, you name it, and I have tried it. By centralizing with Toodledo.com, I find it a lot easier to work it all out.
When I get ideas for posts on this site, I create an entry into Toodledo as reminder. Sometimes I even schedule it so I know I have to do it.
By the way, I used to use Evernote for this type of activity, but found the tasks I needed to do just got lost in all the ‘notes’ I was taking.
I hope this was useful! Take a moment and sign up for the free training and let me know what you use to stay on track!

Planners as apps or on paper… It’s always interesting how people have a specific style they like. Thx for the info about the new tool.

Thanks, Catherine – Like I said, for a free tool and the frequency which I use it… it is a winner in my book! Thanks for stopping by!
