I get questions asked about WordPress all the time. I decided that since these questions were asked so many time, there are probably people out there that still have these questions, but have not asked! I am going to dedicate Friday posts to answering questions! Each Friday will be an answer to a question (or questions) that come in during the week.
Ironically, this question came in from 2 different people this past week. Who would have thought?
Where did my Plugin Menu go? I am logged into my Dashboard, but I don’t see it!
Without seeing anyone’s site, I can only describe a couple reasons why this could happen.
The most frequent reason is that your blog is hosted on WordPress.com. When you use WordPress.com (notice the .com at the end), you do not have the ability to add plugins. You need to have your own ‘self-hosted’ website.
If you do not have your own self-hosted account (and you are using WordPress.com or Blogger as an example) you should read why you should Switch your Hosted Blog to Your Own Site.
Next possible reason – if your user account does not have Admin rights to the WordPress installation, you cannot add plugins. Read more about WordPress Roles if you are interested.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them!

Good point to mention the difference between .com and .org. Until this past summer I didn’t know the difference between the two.

It is a common mistake, Joanne!

What a great idea, Paul, to do a Friday Q&A. There are always little “things” that trip us up. It’s nice to know you’re always there with a ready answer. I hope you are doing well…let’s catch up sometime.
Paul says
Will do, Jeanne!
