Several years ago, the US Treasury Website was Hacked, then Suspended. You can read the entire article if you want, but the main points include:

• A website of the US Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) was suspended after it was hacked
• The hosting company used by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing had an intrusion and numerous websites were affected
• The BEP website and four internet addresses (URLs) pointing to it BEP.gov, BEP.treas.gov, Moneyfactory.gov and Moneyfactory.com were suspended

And the US Treasury is not alone. We have heard of MANY other “secure” sites that were hacked or threatened:

• U.S. banks prepare for cyber attacks after latest Russia sanctions;
• News Corp. Hacked, Reporters Targeted; Believed China-Linked
• The News Corp breach illustrates how badly China wants to hack the U.S.
• and on and on…

For reasons like this, I prefer to create backups and store them someplace that is NOT on my hosting server (like my own personal computer or in the cloud – a secure cloud location).
